What are Vector Files?

Same as object oriented graphics, refers to software and hardware that use geometrical formulas to represent images. The other method for representing graphical images is through bit maps, in which the image is composed of a pattern of dots. This is sometimes called raster graphics. Programs that enable you to create and manipulate vector graphics are called draw programs, where as programs that manipulated bit-mapped images are called paint programs.
Vector graphics are more flexible than bit maps because they can be resized and stretched to any size. In addition, images stored as vectors look better on devices (monitors and printers) with higher resolution, where as bit-mapped images always appear the same regardless of a device's resolution. Another advantage of vector graphics is that representations of images often require less memory than bit-mapped images do.

Almost all sophisticated graphics systems and animation software, use vector graphics. In addition, many printers (PostScript printers, for example) use vector graphics. Fonts represented as vectors are called vector fonts, scalable fonts, object-oriented fonts, and outline fonts.

Note that most output devices, including dot-matrix printers, laser printers, and display monitors, are raster devices.. This means that all objects, even vector objects, must be translated into bit maps before being output. The difference between vector graphics and raster graphics, therefore, is that vector graphics are not translated into bit maps until the last possible moment, after all sizes and resolutions have been specified. Digital printers, for example, have a raster image processor (RIP) that performs the translation within the printer. In their vector form, therefore, graphics representations can potentially be output on any device, with any resolution, and at any size.

At Mass.Sign we work with softwares.
Adobe Illustrator CS2, Adobe Photophop CS2, Corel Draw X3 and SignLab 6

Vector files are very important to get the job done in high quality.

It's very importante that you tell us the PMS numbers ( colors ) of the file. That way we will not have problems about the colors. If you don't have the numbers we will pick a closest color we can.

File like ( .JPG .GIF .BMP .TIFF ) can only be viewed as pictures. We can open these files but to view only. We can not change this files like color, size, etc.

Bitmap files must be at high resolution.

PSD files (Adobe Photoshop File) Are only for Digital Print jobs. The file must be created in the final size. 100 DPI (recomended). We can not change the size of a PSD file. The file will lose quality doing that. If you are working in Adobe Photoshop please send us a .PSD file.

Please convert all the fonts in the file to graphics, also tell us the font names used to create the file. That way we will not have problems with fonts missing.

We are not able to open MAC computers files. The file must be saved as PC file.
